3rd Quarter Update - Community Resource Center - Philippines
Filipino/American Medical/Dental Team Helps to Open Doors in BalicBalic
We were pleased to host a medical and dental outreach in our new village outreach in BalicBalic on October 23rd. This was the first time that we have had an outreach to the adults in the community. We are praying that this will open the doors for Bible studies and eventually a church plant there. Through the joint efforts of Care Channels, a US team lead by Tim and Kathy Atchley, BSOP missionaries and CRC staff, we were able to serve about 150 adults.
We appreciate the support of the Sonora Lions Club for the medicines and for Seeds of Dignity Ministries for funding the other costs for the clinic. This is a great example of how several organizations can work together to provide services and to help open doors for the spreading of the gospel. We appreciate the doctors and dentists as well from Davao City who gave up a full day to attend to the needs of the people. We also were able to have a children's program and gave out wooden cars, pencils and other items that have been sent to us from generous donors in Singapore and the US. (see picture below) God Bless all of you!
Repeat Boutique Continues to Be a Success in Guihing!
We are so pleased to report that the clothing being sold in Guihing each Thursday continues to be greatly desired and appreciated by the people of the village. With items ranging in cost from 5 pesos to 25 pesos, (11 to 60 cents US), villagers are able to acquire clothing on a regular basis and are learning to save money for the sale.
Additionally, the funds raised each week are used to support the ongoing ministry costs in BalicBalic. We are encouraged to see the church running this ministry and are finally able to distribute clothing on a much broader scale to the villagers. Thanks so much to all who send the BB boxes of clothes here to support this effort. (see picture to the right)
Villagers At Work: Livelihood Projects
We continue to be blessed by our partnership with Care Channels in the making of greeting cards from pressed flowers, cross-stitched note cards, and calendars from pressed flowers. Many of these items are now in the US and available for purchase. Not only do the villagers receive money for making the items, when they are sold in the US, the profit on the sale is returned to the villages and to HOH orphanage in the form of educational scholarships. We are grateful for those who are assisting with the sales of these items. For more info, please contact ppjcowles@gmail.com.
Thanks so much for your prayers and support for the ministries here. We look forward to God's plan to share the gospel, make disciples and teach the villagers here about the love of God.
God Bless,
Philip Pabalate
